Overview
Four Day Beard’s music is brooding and dynamic indie rock with americana, post-punk, shoegaze and experimental elements.
“The album’s unusual instrumentation, forlorn lyrics, and striking but unobtrusive melodies are immediately attractive—which is sort of amazing for a band clearly operating well outside the mainstream.” – The New Times
“Feels like I Might Disintegrate”, from Four Day Beard’s debut self titled album won second place in the “open” category in the 2016 New Times Music Awards.
“Feels like I Might Disintegrate, revolves around warm organ, percussion, guitar and bass. It’s another exceptional song all around. Take a dash of Sparklehorse and The Flaming Lips and you might get an idea of what this song sounds like. ” – Matt Jensen / Divide and Conquer Music
Four Day Beard has also been featured in ads for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, independent music podcasts, streaming online radio stations as well as traditional college and independent FM stations across the country.

History
Joe Schwab started recording and producing music as Four Day Beard in 2011. Four Day Beard began as an outlet for thoughts and feelings during a particularly difficult time of isolation, alienation and maybe a bit of culture shock after relocating from Southern California to a small rural town in the Southern Midwest.
Schwab wrote and recorded Four Day Beard’s debut eponymous album in a modest spare-bedroom studio while living in Murphysboro, Illinois; Knoxville, TN and San Luis Obispo, CA. Remotely collaborating with a few friends, the songs emerged with melancholy experimental aesthetics and accessible Rock and Americana elements.
Four Day Beard’s new lineup includes Robert Powers (The Treeweasels) on bass and Jake Duarte (The Small Kicks / Mother F Bombs) on drums, Four Day Beard is currently working on new songs for an upcoming album to be released in 2019.
